Learning Specialist – Job Description

We are currently seeking full-time Learning Specialists at the Primary/Junior level and the Junior/Intermediate level. Working for Ruth Rumack’s Learning Space provides a unique opportunity for teachers to be part of a dynamic and collaborative team of educators with continuous and meaningful professional development and opportunities for growth.

Our Learning Specialists teach in various areas including: literacy, math, and homework support. We are also always happy to hear Intermediate/Senior teachers with more specialized training in math/science and language. Our team grows organically, so if you are the right fit for our team, we will find a space for you and bring you on board!

Ruth Rumack’s Learning Space (RRLS) provides personalized educational support for Pre K-12 students in Midtown and Downtown Toronto, including those with learning differences. We teach students in one-to-one and small group settings and design individualized lesson plans that help students achieve academic and lifelong success. We also work with students who require enrichment and standardized test prep. Lessons are interactive and incorporate kinesthetic learning and other creative teaching methods. Our teachers are highly educated, motivated, caring, warm, and invested in students’ success.

Requirements:

 OCT certification or equivalent
 2+ years experience teaching students with a variety of educational needs
 Teachers with Primary/Junior experience encouraged
 Excellent command of the English language
 Integrating assistive technology into lessons
 Experience teaching Direct Instruction programs an asset
 Experience teaching emergent readers an asset
 Experience teaching math up to Grade 8 an asset
 Special Education qualifications or experience an asset
 Interest in developing student curriculum and programs
 Adaptable, flexible and motivated

Please note that this is not an ESL or tutoring position. Typical teachers’ hours are Monday to Thursday and Saturday. Weekday evenings are required.
