Lively Little Learners (Alpha-Mania & Mini Masters)

The morning program is Alpha-Mania, a pre-reading program based on phonological awareness and extensive literacy research where children explore the alphabet and other early reading skills.

In the afternoon, children participate in Mini Masters, a one-of-a-kind art program that allows children to discover one of the world’s great artists, creating their own dynamic art pieces and exploring art concepts such as light, texture, value, and shape.

Essay Writing

This program is suited for students wanting to gain, or strengthen, a foundational knowledge of the essay writing structure and process. Students will learn four of the five stages of the essay writing process (plan, organize, write, and perfect) through games and activities, writing a collaborative essay with classmates, and finally crafting an independent opinion essay. Throughout the process, students will strengthen their planning, writing, and editing skills, preparing them for all future essay writing.

Essay Coach – Research Essay

This program is tailored to high school students wanting to take their essay writing further and learn specific skills required for research papers. Students will learn all five stages of the essay writing process (plan, research, organize, write, and perfect), including lessons on locating and evaluating sources, taking research notes, avoiding plagiarism, paraphrasing, and creating a bibliography. Students will gain skills through activities, writing a collaborative research essay with classmates, and crafting an independent research paper. The numerous skills and strategies learned throughout the program will enable students to approach all future essay writing with confidence.

Power Writing – Level 1

Written expressionPower Writing teaches students a numerical approach to structuring sentences and paragraphs. Students will learn through scaffolded lessons, as well as games and activities that reinforce learned concepts. By applying a systematic approach to writing, and by using graphic organizers to plan their work, students will gain familiarity with tools and strategies that help them avoid feeling paralyzed or overwhelmed by the writing process.
