Nurturing the learner
Within |

|

Ruth
Rumack’s Learning Space believes in providing
a warm and understanding educational environment
for the student today while they master the learning
habits that will last a lifetime.
|
|
|
| |
We
welcome students with all types of educational
needs and differences. |
|
| |
Unlike
other, franchised tutoring organizations, we
don’t fit the student into a proscribed
learning path. |
|
| |
Instead we work with the student
to craft a learning curve that will make the most
of the student’s capabilities, inspiring
confidence in their own ability to learn throughout
their student life and beyond. Each student builds
a learning relationship with a tutor who remains
their learning coach for as long as possible.
Sessions are scheduled on a consistent basis,
in many cases for the same day of the week at
the same time of day, to help the student build
a productive learning rhythm. |

We
work as an advocate for the student. |
|
| |
In
our role as tutor, we stand beside and work with
the student to integrate every facet of their
learning experience into a seamless and academically
fulfilling experience. The scope of involvement
depends upon the situation of the individual learner.
In many cases, we act as the interpreter between
parents, the needs of the student, and the resources
that the school system has to offer the
student. This can include: helping parents understand
the student’s report card; helping develop
an independent education plan (IEP) for the student
in concert with the school system; working with
classroom teachers and principals to create a
study path for the student; following up with
the student’s teachers to ensure the student
is following the program, and that the program
developed for the student is being followed in
the classroom. We can also arrange with the school
for the student to attend tutoring sessions during
regular school hours as part of the student’s
integrated learning program.
Students are often referred to us by psychologists
and other behaviour specialists.
