The Law School Admission Test is a standardized assessment that helps law schools assess the qualifications of program applicants. Schools use the test as one predictor of academic performance in a competitive law program. The LSAT measures reading comprehension, analytical reasoning skills, and logical reasoning skills. The test is comprised of six sections: five 35-minute multiple choice sections, and one 35-minute writing section. The test is administered four times each year.
Is a high score on the LSAT important?
An individual’s score is placed in a percentile comparison with test takers of the previous five years. Applicants are not compared to a fixed norm, but one that fluctuates depending on recent scores. If you happen to write the LSAT at a time when most of the other test takers have prepared extensively, then you will be compared to that highly trained group. A high LSAT score and high percentile placement can greatly improve your chances of acceptance into the school of your choice.
Why is test preparation important?
Thorough test preparation is vital for LSAT success. Law school applicants benefit from the practice and review achieved through test preparation services. Comprehensive test preparation familiarizes law program applicants with the exam material and effective test taking strategies. Test preparation enhances confidence, and affords the applicant an essential competitive edge.
