In the early years, children are eager to explore their world and unlock its secrets. “Early reading programs” programs offer young minds the opportunity to develop skills that will enhance their learning throughout their lives as students and beyond.

Ruth Rumack has developed a pre-reading program specifically for children beginning as young as three years of age.

Alpha-Mania is a pre-reading program that introduces young children to the magic and excitement of the alphabet while significantly developing their phonemic awareness. We explore the letters by sound, name, and shape. The young student quickly discovers the rhythm and music that the letters make when combined to create words and language.

The keystone of the program is our use of phonemic awareness activities which are based on the five predictors or reading success: rhyming, blending, segmenting, recognizing sound-letter combinations, and sounds within words.

In our Alpha-Mania programs, children enjoy interactive games, crafts, stories and songs. As they become aware of the structure of language, and become able to apply their knowledge in reading situations, they develop self-esteem and independence.
